Mielie Mielie was founded in 2002 and now consists of a group of thirty people who reside in Cape Town. The name mielie was chosen because of the texture of the bags material when woven and mielies are also an integral part of many South Africans diets. Mielie handbags are handmade from recycled material, the designs are contemporary and trendy. The bags are made using techniques such as hooked rugging, crochet and knotting, this gives them their rough texture and unique look. |
