Nicola Savage Durban designer Nicola Savage has, over the last eight years, established herself as a successful contemporary jeweller. Savage makes sterling silver jewellery that appeals to a large age group and that will last a lifetime. She uses simple shapes and elements and turns them into easily wearable pieces that are striking. Her various ranges include the wrapped wire range, forged range, rubber range, pebble range and flower range. Savage does not limit herself to any one material and she makes use of a variety of different metals and stones in her work. Savage draws inspiration from the various sights and sounds that she encounters in her everyday life and, as such, her work reflects the melting pot of cultures that makes Durban unique as a city. In an effort to help aspiring jewellers from previously disadvantaged communities Savage often provides students from The Durban University of Technology with the opportunity to work with her and to thus gain valuable experience. |
