Streetwires "Think Global, Act Local" The Streetwires team is made up of a diverse range of people but who have a common passion for wire art. Wire art is both ornamental and function that is why it is such a diverse unique medium. Streetwires is based in Cape Town and Johannesburg. It is a market driven job creation project and its artists are the inspiration and driving force behind the Streetwires community. It was started in 2000 and it addresses the problems of unemployment and poverty in South Africa, it brings upliftment to impoverished areas. It permanently employs over 100 people and trains them in the art of bead and wire work. |
